On July 17-21, 2023, the Federation of Asian Minor Conventuals (FAMC) held its Annual Assembly at St. Joseph Friary in Tagaytay City, Philippines.
The assembly was attended by FAMC Assistant General, Friar Benedetto Seung-jae Baek; Friar Marco Jin Chol Jeong, South Korea; Friar Martin Pallikkara, Sri Lanka; Friar Emmanuel Giva, Philippines; Friar Cornelius Tri Chandra Fajariyanto, Indonesia; Friar Joseph Long Tran, Vietnam; Friar Lucas Tanizaki, Japan; and Friar David Blowey, Australia; Those who attended on-line were friars from the Indian Province and their delegations: Friars Bonaventure Kalluvettukuzhiyil, Louis Panthiruvelil, and Friar Manuel Manicompel. The speaker was Friar Wayne Hellmann, from the Province of Our Lady of Consolation, USA.
The first day was dedicated to the reporting of each jurisdiction.
On the next day, Friar Wayne Hellmann gave a conference on the 800th anniversary of the Rule. Friars from different communities, including the OFM Capuchin friars, and some Franciscan Sisters also attended the conference.
On the third day, Friar Wayne gave a conference to the FAMC members on the Theology of St. Bonaventure on the Holy Spirit and on Friary Chapters as reflected in the newly promulgated Constitutions. The attendees had an outing with the community of St. Joseph Friary in Anilao, Batangas the day after.
On the last day, the attendees visited the Divine Word School of Theology and the Divine Word Institute for Mission Studies. The assembly closed with a message and a report from the Federation president, Friar Bonaventure and an update on the FAMC common novitiate. In the evening, a fraternal night was held for the 60th anniversary of solemn vows of Friar Hellmann.
