Custody Celebrates 46 Years of Franciscan Mission in the Philippines

The Custody of the Immaculate Conception and Blessed Bonaventure of Potenza joyfully celebrated the 46th Foundation of the Order in the Philippines. This year’s celebration was made more meaningful by also commemorating the 8th Centenary of the Canticle of Creatures.

On August 25, 2025, friars, novices, and postulants gathered at St. Maximilian Friary, Parañaque City for a day filled with fraternity, thanksgiving, and renewal.

The morning began with a sharing by Fra Dennis Vargas, OFMConv., on his missionary experience, followed by updates and communications from Fra Emmanuel Giva, OFMConv., the Provincial Custos. A highlight of the day was the unveiling of a painting of the Canticle of Creatures and St. Maximilian Kolbe at the refectory, leading into the celebration of the Holy Mass presided by Fra Emmanuel.

Festivities continued with a joyful fraternal lunch and the afternoon session, which included meetings of the Commissions and Ad Hoc Committees, along with the Code of Conduct Presentation and Signing. Afterwards, the postulants and junior friars shared fraternity through a lively basketball game.

The celebration concluded with Eucharistic Adoration presided by Fra Dominic Lim, OFMConv., the Custodial Vicar, followed by supper in thanksgiving for the day.
