Fra Leo Estanislao (1967–2024)

Born on May 19, 1967, in Zamboanga City, Fra Leo was the ninth of eleven children to Mr. and Mrs. David Estanislao Jr. and Rizalina Porchalla. He was baptized on May 21, 1967, and named Romeo. On June 8, 1986, he began his journey with the Order of Friars Minor Conventual as an aspirant, adopting the name Leo on May 30, 1988, in honor of one of St. Francis of Assisi's first companions. He professed his simple vows on October 4, 1989, and his solemn vows on October 4, 1992.

Fra Leo contributed significantly to his community. He served as the production manager for the musical play “St. Francis of Assisi” and obtained his Licentiate in Consecrated Life from the Institute of Consecrated Life in Asia in 1999. His ordination to the priesthood followed on August 14, 1999.

His roles in the Custody were diverse and impactful: Vocation Director (1997-1999), Guardian of Immaculata Friary (2002-2006), head of the production “KOLBE, Martyr of Charity” in 2002, Parish Priest of St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe Parish (2003-2006), and Director of the Franciscan Institute of Asia (2003-2006). He also assisted various ministries in the Mother Province of Naples, particularly in Salerno, Italy (2006-2009). Later, he served as the assisting priest of St. Pancratius Parish (2010-2013) and parochial vicar of San Agustin Parish (2018-2023).

For health reasons, Fra Leo was transferred to St. Maximilian Friary on November 1, 2023. He joined his Creator on July 6, 2024, at the age of 57, leaving behind a legacy of devotion and service.
