Lenten Recollections in the Mission Areas of Samar

Fra Odorico Laoreno, OFMConv., facilitated a series of Lenten recollections in Dolores, Eastern Samar, and Mondragon, Northern Samar during the first week of March.

On March 4, 2025, he conducted recollection sessions at Mater Divinae Gratiae College (MDGC)—in the morning for students, and in the afternoon for faculty and staff. The theme was “Peace Under the Cross,” inspired by Corda Pia.

On March 6, 2025, he led a recollection for graduating Senior High School and college students of MDGC, centered on the theme “The Transitus of St. Francis and Learning to Embrace the Cross.” He emphasized that graduation is a kind of “transitus,” marking a transition to a new chapter in life.

On March 7, 2026, a recollection was held at St. Joachim Parish for MI members and parishioners, with the theme “Conversion Through a Heart Like God.”

This same theme was continued on March 8, 2026, at St. Joseph Chapel in Nenita, Mondragon, Northern Samar, also for MI members and parishioners.

The recollections highlighted St. Francis as a man of prayer, his deep love for the Cross, and his witness to poverty and simplicity.
