Be Joyful With What We Have and Set Our Goal

26th Sunday in Ordinary Time

For these past Sundays, we are asked to renounce all that are not important for our salvation and to be able to focus on our goal which is union with God. These renunciations will also help us prepare for the coming of our Lord in our life, like a bride waiting for her bridegroom.

We join the Church, for which we are part of in waiting patiently for the coming of Jesus, her Bridegroom.

The good shepherd thinks of what is best for his sheep and not of what he could get from the sheep.

The contrast between the rich man and Lazarus in today’s Gospel reminds us of the need to be content with what we have and the need to share to others if we are given the means to do it by God.

The parable was addressed also by Jesus to the Pharisees. Jesus’ way of life shows us the real “Good Shepherd”. The good shepherd thinks of what is best for his sheep and not of what he could get from the sheep.

Let us ask the Lord of the harvest to send holy priests to his vineyard, priests whose heart is patterned after the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
