Intimacy with the Father through His Son Jesus

This Sunday's first reading from the book of Genesis, shows us the God who visits his people. A God who wants to be known intimately by us.

This intimacy was made more visible in Jesus becoming man and living among us.

Abraham, our father in faith, teaches us how to welcome God and our neighbour. He was concerned about the well being of his visitor, contrary to the picture we see in the Gospel for today with Martha. Martha was more concerned about herself.

It is important not to be anxious about a lot of things but to center on what is essential.

Jesus gently rebuked her, underlying that He did not come to be served but to serve. It is important not to be anxious about a lot of things but to center on what is essential – to listen to our Master and Lord. To spend time with Him.

Let us spend quality time with the Lord to listen to Him and just to be with Him and in doing so, we learn also how to be with our families and to spend quality time with them. Then we discover what really is service.
