Holy Mother Church feeds us with food and drink that brings life everlasting

As we continue our journey in this life, the liturgy highlights important aspects to help us focus on the essentials for us not to be lured by the things of this world.

These past Sundays, we are nourished in our growth by the liturgy of the Word and the Eucharist. The first reading last Sunday highlights mother Jerusalem who nurses and feeds her children with good food. This Sunday, the 15th in ordinary time, our mother Church feeds us with the greatest of all commandments, loving God and our neighbour.

Our mother Church feeds us with the greatest of all commandments, loving God and our neighbour.

The words of Mary, mother of the Church, continue to echo... "Do whatever my Son tells you to do." Jesus’ becoming man is to show us the "face of our Father in heaven", the face of a Father's love, so that we his children could learn from him how to love our neighbour.

The scholar of the Law asked: "Who is my neighbour?" Jesus responded with a parable showing that our neighbours are those who are in need. As Catholics, we have a moral responsibility towards those who are needy – we are asked to bring Jesus to them.

May the liturgy we celebrate determine what we believe and the manner of our living. (Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi, Lex Vivendi!)
